Tube Screamer True Bypass Mod

I am now offering the same True Bypass Switch mod to Ibanez TS series pedals such as the TS-9 Tube Screamer that the major pedal guys are doing. True bypass switches both the input and the output, so when switched off your signal is completely disconnected from the circuit. Without it, only the input is switched, leaving the output of the circuit still connected to your signal path, which can load down and drain a small amount of your signal, although that is not a big problem with a TS-9 in particular. But really, this mod is a reaction the the notoriously finicky electronic switching on these pedals. The true bypass part is really just a bonus.┬áIt involves drilling a 1/2″ hole in the face plate and wiring in a 3PDT mechanical switch, as well as removing the flip-flop electronic switching circuit components. Anyone who has ever owned one has no doubt stepped on the switch at some point and have nothing happen. Very frustrating on stage. Here is a shot of mine, the first one I did. It works great now.

Here is an under the hood shot of the newly installed 3PDT (three pole, double throw) bypass switch. It is the same one used by the major custom pedal shops, and sold by Stew-Mac. As you can see it is a very tight fit!

And here are two more well gigged TS-9 pedals with switches installed and awaiting pick up.
