Circuit Board Build
Here are the two circuit boards populated with all components tacked in with the exception of one coupling capacitor I’m waiting on. You can see that the eyelets are not fully soldered in because pretty much every one of them is getting a wire connection so that’s when they will be fully soldered.
New Old Stock (NOS) tubes from eBay. An RCA black plate and a Tung-Sol 5y3 recitfier tube. You really shouldn’t use modern day Russian made 5Y3 tubes in this amp because they aren’t exactly the same tube, and they put out too much voltage, which causes over bias problems in a cathode biased amp like a Tweed Deluxe. Much better to go with a used, still in the box, American made tube in many cases. Also shown are 3 hard to find NOS Sylvania 12AY7 preamp tubes I got from a fellow on eBay. For the other 12AX7 pre-amp tube and the 6V6 outputs I am going to go with the new JJ 12AX7 for both amps, and put new JJ 6V6 in one and NOS Tung-Sol in the other. Since these amps will be identical it should make for an interesting comparison between the sound of the 6V6 outputs.
